Job Description
The chosen candidate will strategically implement best practices by leading a team of Procurement professionals responsible for logistics, freight and fleet services with a spend of ~100 Million organizationally. You and your team will develop category strategies, manage complex strategic sourcing projects, negotiate supply agreements, and develop supplier relationships in strategic areas of spend. You will foster close collaboration with leadership to optimize the implementation of contracts and services as well as collaborate with the plant shipping departments and the S&OP team to drive maximum service levels at lowest landed cost. Also, oversee third party relationships with Transportation Management System developer and other service providers.
Specifically, the chosen candidate will lead a team of 5 professionals responsible for a variety of services and freight modes including flatbed truck, van truckload, dump truckload, Specialty (molten, roll-offs and oversize shipments), rail, Less-than-truckload (LTL), inter-modal, internal fleet and customs/freight brokerage services. Implement a carrier management program. Implement a fleet management program. Assess the inbound flow of raw materials and implement programs for achieving lowest total cost. Develop the process and metrics for building supplier performance scorecards to drive improved carrier performance, using TMS shipment data. Drive the rapid adoption of eSourcing tools and eProcurement capabilities. Implement Logistics best practices throughout the supply chain process. Establish and achieve EBITA goals through effective Logistics management including market assessments, sourcing strategies, negotiation, contract management and dispatch management. Improve load tendering. Apply quantitative methods for assessing lowest total cost, negotiating the proper blend of price, service and commercial terms and, measuring the benefits. Experience Required
BA/BS in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Mgt, Engineering or Finance. MBA is preferred.
Minimum 10 years experience in Logistics, Operations Management or Procurement is required.
Demonstrated experience in negotiating and managing contracts
Demonstrated experience with planning, managing and applying complex quantitative analyses such as total cost modeling, forecasting or production planning
Above average analytical skills; quickly & effectively reconcile disparate and incomplete data sources to develop well-documented and supportable recommendations
Strong written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated through team facilitation, coaching, management presentations, project deliverables and business reporting
Demonstrated strategic thinking and change management skills
Demonstrated problem solving skills with experience in working through and around constraints
Understanding of network analysis and optimization, including familiarity with commercial network optimization tools, managing a portfolio of supply contracts, implementing and/or using a Transportation Management System (TMS), dispatch and shipping processes in a manufacturing setting, familiarity with fleet operations and best-in-class asset utilization programs are all desired but not a requirement.
